Abstract

An approximative process for the projection of an element of a Hilbert space on a finite-dimensional subspace is proposed where the subspace is given only in an implicit manner. Both the convergence and numerical measures of convergence are studied and any conditions are given for the process to be stable in the sens of Michlin. As an application we point out the problem to minimize the middle strain in a plate where are varied the boundary powers only.
