A viscous partial damage model is considered which features two damage variables coupled through a penalty term in the stored energy functional. While the well-posedness of the model was shown in a companion paper, this work analyses the behaviour of the model as the penalization parameter tends to in finity. It turns out that in the limit both damage variables coincide and satisfy a classical viscous damage model.
