The Moyal Product and Spectral Theory for a Class of Infinite Dimensional Matrices
Frank
Hansen
University of Copenhagen, COPENHAGEN, DENMARK
We study tempered distributions that are multipliers of the Schwartz space relative to the Moyal product. They form an algebra N under the Moyal product containing the polynomials. The elements of N are represented as infinite dimensional matrices with certain growth properties of the entries. The representation transforms the Moyal product into matrix multiplication. Each real element of N allows a resolvent map with values in tempered distributions and an associated spectral resolution. This giaes a tool to study distributions associated with symmetric, but not necessarily self-adjoint operators.

The Structure and Represenation of a C*-Algebra Associated to the Super-Poincaré Group

The representation theory of a class of algebras associated to certain graded Lie groups is investigated. To a group whose even part is central is associated a natural involutive algebra all of whose *-representations factor through a quotient algebra of continuous Clifford algebra-valued fields. The irreducible representations of crossed products of the algebra by a Lie algebra, such as the super-Poincaré group, are then constructed by Takesaki's method. It is then shown that they may also be constructed by Rieffel's C*-algebraic induction. Tensor product decompositions are briefly discussed.

Decompositions of Regular Representations of the Canonical Commutation Relations
Reinhard
Schaflitzel
TU München, MÜNCHEN, GERMANY
Every cyclic regular representation of the canonical commutation relations over any inner product space V can be decomposed into a direct integral of irreducible regular representations, where the fibers are representations over subspaces of V. An example using the so-called direct-product representations shows that generally the irreducible representations cannot be defined over the whole V. So we get a new type of decomposition having no equivalent in the decompositions of locally compact groups.
